Rising from the ashes following the Holocaust, the Jewish people are reborn. After living in exile for over 2,000 years, the Jews return to the land of Israel and establish a homeland. The story of Israel's first 60 years of statehood is commemorated in this piece as the dance brings to the stage the tragedies and joyful milestones of Israel's existence. The heroic site of "Ammunition Hill" signifies the 1967 Six-Day War and represents the ongoing battles that Israel must fight for its existence. "Halevai" is more than a wish...it is a prayer for the completion of the prophecy of the return, "Shuva Israel."
